Pond Inlet

August 8th, 2008 by Randy Jones

Editor’s Note: I’ve only receive the pictures which I uploaded, but no update yet from the crew. But they had enough internet access to send photos. This tells me they’ve made it to Pond Inlet. An update should arrive soon. In the mean time here are photos from today. — Received a message from Charlotte that she spoke with the crew on the phone and they have indeed arrived safely in Pond Inlet.

You travelers are in a much different world than I will ever experience. Up at 4:30 AM sunrise, following twilight for 4 or 5 hours !!

And you are more than half way to Alaska. I expect to hear from Lancaster Soumd (?) soon, as you travel west for some time.

The pictures are fantstic, an awe inspiring portion of your journey, and such meals you ae having !! A pilar of light, indeed. Your reports are much appreciated and followed with enthusiasm.

May God be with you as you continue (he certainly has been with you to date) on this “once-in-a-life-time” experience.

Walt: you have courage, much support, and a crew that eats well, with Kip in the galley.

Tomorrow is Dexter Daze, where we serve 600 chicken halves. The weather will be cool (75 degrees or so) but it may rain late in the afternoon. I will be at Steve’s for a musical with Nathan on display by 5:00 PM (for dinner).

How is this: large pork steak smothered in onions, bacon, red and green peppers, with red wine to drink. Kai – Uwe and I take turns cooking, as Marj is camping with the boys.

I am well, in spite of monifying the boys play gym to get Jan a club house. He will be doing the walls, peep holes, hidden doors, etc. I have done the roof and the window (interrior sutters with a screened window, when the bi-fold shutters are open. It is somewhat stressful, but I pace myself, drink lots of water, and am very deliberate in what I do.

I hope both Marj and Jan like it when they return. I doubt if I will be allowed in the club house when it is completed.

    With much Love, Dad

Absolutely incredible journey….it must seem like an “out of body” experience. Reading this blog is like a mystery novel…with interesting twists and turns!! You are seeing parts of this planet that few have ever seen. We keep prayin’ and thanking God for His hand of protection on this voyage and all of you….but reading Kip’s menu makes me hungry though. i keep wondering when you guys are gonna get Kip’s famous “chicken smoothies”!! 😉
    Love,
    Mike and Cathy

This is really a wonderful experiance and know that you are in our prayers. As i read your journey in this adventure you are passing different challenges and keeping forward to your goal a scripture came in to my heart which Paul said in Philippians 3:12-14 “… but one thing i do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”
